Whoopi Goldberg Strikes Again, This Time With Some Dumb Ideas About Racism

First, Whoopi Goldberg fiercely defended Bill Cosby even though more than 20 women accused him of sexual assault and now she shared some pretty bizarre ideas about racism.  During Thursday’s edition of the View, the panel talked about First Lady Michelle Obama’s confession that the Obamas still get racially profiled. For instance, President Obama was mistaken for a waiter and valet, while Michelle was asked to assist a customer in a store. Goldberg claimed that these incidents have nothing to do with racism.  She argued that mistaking the President of the USA for a waiter or valet was simply ignorance.

“I’ve been black for 60 years. For me, stupidity: There are dumb folks who just say dumb stuff because they’re not looking or paying attention to the person they’re talking to, which is why people could walk up to Obama and in not look up at him and see that it’s the president.”

Rosie Perez didn’t share her viewpoint and told her that such incidents are typical cases of conscious racism.  She also gave an example from her own experience.

“When my sister Carmen and I were in San Antonio—we were in an exclusive hotel, we’re in exclusive VIP lounge, there are millions of people, right? We walk in and they asked my sister Carmen to clean the table.”

Rosie O’Donnell was also quick to disagree with Goldberg, telling her that she raised a black kid and that she definitely knows what racism is.  But Whoopi didn’t stop there.  She snapped and screamed at Rosie that one has to be black to understand what racism is.
