Tyga Puts Pet Tiger In Shelter

The rapper has said goodbye to his pet tiger and placed it in a private animal shelter.

The hip-hop star received a visit from California Wildlife executives in April after they learned the star has been holding a big cat illegally at his Ventura County home as a pet.

According to KTLA-TV, the star’s home was not occupied when a warden arrived, and a search of the property showed no signs of a wild animal, said department spokesman Andrew Hughan.

According to TMZ.com, the star, who has been posting pictures of the animal with fans on his Instagram.com account since March 2014, reportedly told the warden he had already planned to part ways with his tiger pet.

It’s still not clear if Tyga, whose real name is Michael Nguyen-Stevenson, will face any legal charges for illegal possession of an exotic animal.

According to law enforcement, Wildlife officers picked up the 7-month-old wildcat at the shelter and transferred it to a state facility for safekeeping, while they investigate.

Tyga could possibly face misdemeanor charges of possession of a prohibited species.

It’s punishable by up to six months behind bars.

However, it was reported Tyga took good care of the cat. Sources close to Tyga told the rapper didn’t realize it was illegal to own such an animal, and as soon as he realized it was, he gave it to a shelter.
