Turns Out Richard Simmons Isn’t Being Held Hostage In His Own Home

You may or may not have noticed this, but celebrity American fitness guru Richard Simmons has been pretty much non-existent in celebrity gossip news for well over two years now, leading some friends to go as far as to wonder whether he is being held in his home against his will. However, the effervescent fitness instructor has spoken out recently about his seclusion, explaining how he feels he should be able to do whatever he pleases, saying:

“No one is holding me in my house as a hostage. You know, I do what I want to do as I’ve always done so people should sort of just believe what I have to say because like I’m Richard Simmons!”

A friend also described Simmons, who is 67, as “gaunt,” and noted how Teresa Reveles, his housekeeper, seemed to be currently controlling his life, to which Simmons responded with:

“That’s just very silly. Teresa Reveles has been with me for 30 years. It’s almost like we’re a married couple.”

Simmons has completely cut off contact with all of his friends as is rarely seen in public outside his home in the Hollywood Hills. He admits that he wanted to be a loner for a little while, but then got used to the pleasures of privacy. He added:

“You know, I had hurt my knee, and I had some problems with it, and then the other knee started giving me trouble because I’ve taught like thousands and thousands of classes, and you know right now I just want to sort of take care of me.”
