The Screen Actors Guild Awards show was held on Sunday night and here are 8 amazing moments that marked the star-studded event:

As some of you might have expected, Birdman was the star of the night. After achieving success at the Producers Guild of America Awards, the brilliant movie won the most wanted trophy – for outstanding motion picture – at the prestigious SAGs.

Unlike the Oscars, which are almost 100 percent white, SAGs recognized talent among non-whites, so the Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba won the award for outstanding female actor in a comedy for her role as Crazy Eyes. This was her first career nomination and she sure as hell earned it.

Before Reese Witherspoon announced that Whiplash star J.K. Simmons won the trophy for best film actor in a supporting role, the audience started applauding for no apparent reason. We still don’t know what that was about as no one with the show was able to explain the fake-sounding applause. Awkward?

Actress Carrie Fisher presented her mother Debbie Reynolds with the life achievement award in a heart-warming speech about some of their most precious moments:

‘’ My favorite movie was Singin’ in the Rain. … I had a wonderful hairdo in that picture. I had a bun at the back of my head. An ugly bun. So I warned my daughter Carrie, who had just gotten the role of Princess Leia in Star Wars, I said, ‘Carrie, be careful of any weird hairdo.’ So luckily George (Lucas) gave her two buns.’’

The fav topic among stars on the red carpet was undoubtedly football! Yup, the actors mainly talked about sports, including the upcoming Super Bowl (and the much-anticipated halftime show!)

Jennifer Aniston had a rough week recently, but the Cake actress seems to have overcome her problems and she looked better than ever when she showed up at the awards with fiancé Justin Theroux.

Boyhood’s Ethan Hawke and Ellar Coltrane were inseparable during the show, as they have been for most of the movie’s promotion. Hawke jokingly said that they are going to experience separation anxiety when all the fuss about the film is over.

Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon were in the spotlight on E!’s red carper pre-show where they gave each other compliments and behaved like two adorable high school girls. What can we say, girls will be girls!
