After winning the album of the year award, Taylor Swift began her acceptance speech at the Grammys in the same manner as any other. The pop star took the time to thank her producers and, of course, her fans, without whom there would be no one to financially support her music.
However, at that point, things took quite a turn, as Swift decided to throw some serious shade at Kanye West, without even mentioning his name. Of course, Kanye brought this upon himself (as he did numerous times before) by saying that Taylor is famous because of him in his new song “Famous.” Swift harshly rejected this statement in her acceptance speech, saying that people who try to undermine others and take credit for someone’s success will always be around.
You can read the entire speech below:
I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world.
