Steven McQueen’s Ferrari Set For Auction

A classic car owned by beloved Hollywood icon Steven McQueen could probably earn as much as $12.8 million (£8 million) this summer, when it goes under the hammer.

Terrence Steven McQueen, better known as Steve McQueen and even better known as the most famous actor of the 1960s and 1970s, originally purchased 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 while he was working on the movie Bullitt in San Francisco, which should provide a big boost to its sale price.

The star had the silver car sprayed red. He owned the car until 1971, when he decided to sell it.

The famous vehicle is now set to be sold by RM Auctions in Monterey, California in August 2014.

Max Girado of RM Auctions refused to give the estimate of its expected price, but reports by experts say it could fetch as much as $12.8 million.

As previously been reported, this car has undergone a full restoration and has received its certification from the official team at Ferrari Classiche.

Beyond that, though, we’re kind of in the dark about this beauty. Nobody even has a rough guess of how much it’ll go for. The price is still just a speculation.

Girado told Britain’s Daily Express newspaper, “When it comes to cars with celebrity provenance, it doesn’t get much better than this.”

The RM Auctions Monaco 2014 sale was held on May 10 at the historic Le Sporting Cinema in Monaco, resulting in Rs 339.6 crore in total sales and a sell-through rate of 93 percent.
