Robert Downey Jr. Surprises Boy With Bionic Arm
Robert Downey Jr. spend an afternoon hanging out with Alex Mead, a 7-year-old who was born with a patrially developed right arm. The actor came in character, posing as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, and offering the child his own bionic arm.
It was a very touching scene to behold. Downey Jr. made some chit chat with the boy, who was obviously star-struck and incredibly cute, and then presented two boxes. In one box was Iron Man’s bionic arm, and in the other box was a specially made bionic arm just for Mead. The actor even commented that Mead’s arm is way better than his own and more technologically advanced.
The arm for young Alex was created in cooperation with Microsoft and Limbitless Solutions, which is a company that specializes in creating affordable 3D-printed limbs to people who need them. Downey Jr. was fantastic with the child and cameras following him were able to catch the incredibly touching meeting.
