Ricky Gervais Refuses To Apologize To Caitlyn Jenner And The Trans Community


After opening the Golden Globes with a tacky joke about Caitlyn Jenner, actor and comedian Ricky Gervais said he wouldn’t apologize to neither the former athlete nor the offended trans community.

Gervais began his opening speech by criticizing Sean Penn for interviewing drug kingpin El Chapo, only to move on to Jenner, saying that ‘ he’s changed,’ but ‘not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously.’ That wasn’t all, of course. He seemingly started praising Jenner’s achievements in ‘breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes’ and then concluded that she hasn’t done much for women drivers, referring to the car accident in which Caitlyn was involved last February and which claimed the life of one woman.

Though pretty much anyone thought the joke was distasteful and offensive, Gervais apparently believes he has nothing to apologize for. Here’s what he wrote in a series of tweets:
