Patrick Dempsey Leaves Grey’s Anatomy
After playing Dr. Derek Shepherd on the hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy for 11 years, Patrick Dempsey has decided to leave the show. And if you don’t want to know how his character exits the show and you haven’t seen last night’s episode, STOP READING NOW.
Dempsey’s character died on the show last night. He was killed in a car crash, leaving behind his wife, the show’s star Meredith Grey, and two children.
One of the most emotional moments in the history of the show happened last night, when Meredith decided to take him off life support.
Dempsey’s contract runs through 2016, which means that he should have technically been obligated to participate in the next season as well, but it seems that he really wanted to move on after the 11th season of the Emmy award-winning program.
Even though he did play a pivotal character, it seems that his death could breathe some creativity into the show and it opens up a lot of options when it comes to developing the show’s storyline further.
