The rich heir and brother of socialite Paris Hilton has agreed to plead guilty to simple assault after having a meltdown on a 10-hour transatlantic flight from London to Los Angeles.
During the incident Conrad Hilton insulted other passengers, called them peasants and threatened to kill flight attendants. He also smoked marijuana in one of the plane’s bathroom.
Following his tantrum, Paris Hilton’s youngest brother fel asleep and “the captain authorized crew members to restrain him to his seat for the descent and he was ultimately handcuffed to his seat,” according to the complaint.
Conrad was just charged last month with disrupting the flight on July 31 and he could be charged with up to six months in prison, a year of probation and a $5,000 fine. Since he has agreed to plead guilty to the misdemeanor charge, the arraignment is scheduled for Thursday. Under the deal prosecutors agreed to ask a judge to give him only probation.
Hilton’s lawyer Robert Shapiro stated that the incident was a result of a bad reaction to a sleeping pill. However, Conrad reportedly checked himself into rehab after being charged and released on $100,000 bail.
