Dallas-born actor Owen Wilson has never been a fan of publicly discussing his private life, but has now decided to open up about his father’s Alzheimer’s in order to show others that there are ways to deal with the illness.
Speaking about his 74-year-old dad’s illness for the first time ever, Wilson described Alzheimer’s as a ‘rough thing,’ but added that he has a lot to be grateful for, including everything his father taught him and the constant support his family is receiving every day.
He admitted that he first believed he wouldn’t be able to deal with the situation, but quickly learned that he had no choice other than to find a way to come to terms with his father’s illness and think of things to be thankful for.
To quote him:
“You just have to do your best to deal with it. You’ve got no choice but to accept it. And then, you sort of still look for the things to be grateful for.”
