Nicki Minaj Opens VMAs, Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction

Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Jessie J. opened this year’s MTV Video Music Awards and performed their three summer hit songs.

Grande started with ‘Break Free’ and was soon followed by Minaj who performed her popular song ‘Anaconda.’

By the way, ‘Anaconda’ was viewed 19.6 million times in 24 hours, making it Vevo’s most-viewed music video ever.

Jessie J. joined them on stage and began singing ‘Bang Bang.’

During the opening, an incident occurred with Minaj’s wardrobe – the singer had to hold her dress for the entire second half of her performance.

Asource explained to Us Weekly:

“During the dress rehearsal she did the number numerous times and could not make it into the dress zipped up even once. I’ve no idea why she didn’t just decide to wear something else. She just didn’t have the time to change from one outfit into another, there was no way.”

She told Us Weekly that the wardrobe malfunction happened because there was no time for her to properly zip her dress.

Luckily, the incident didn’t stop her from having a blast.

“It felt amazing to open the show.”
