Mariah Carey Regrets Being A Judge On American Idol

Without a particular reason, Mariah Carey believes she wasn’t supposed to be a judge on American Idol. Instead, she’s convinced the role of a guest mentor would have suited her better.
Carey was on the judge panel only for one season, but her feud with Nicki Minaj continued for a year after the on-screen drama, which might be a reason for her regrets.
Mariah told New York radio station Z100, “I should’ve been a mentor on the show and that’s it. I should’ve been the Jimmy Iovine.”
Iovine is the music mogul and the boss of Interscope Records whose job was to provide the ambitious artists with constructive criticism and to guide them through the show.
Carey made a few remarks regarding Iovine, stating, “There needed to be that person that was brutally honest, but the brutality didn’t have to be so visceral. We didn’t need to be brutal to people just to make ourselves feel bigger.”
“I felt that going into the direction of making it a ‘reality show’ isn’t what I signed up for. The real Mariah was so not there,” she added.
