Lupita Nyong’o Wanted Career In Alternative Medicine

Oscar winner Lupita Nyongo’o actually considered pursuing a career in alternative medicine. /it became interesting to her after she discovered a natural cure for her skin condition.

The star, who has been names People magazine’s most Beautiful star, said she suffered an undiagnosed skin condition, which manifested as a rush on her face when she was a child. However, she managed to overcome the condition with the help of a special herbal remedy.

The Kenyan-Mexican beauty told People magazine, “I had very patchy, rashy skin, mainly on my face. My mother found some remedy in Madagascar, like herbs in a vial. Oh, it smelled terrible – but it worked…”

“If I weren’t an actress, I would probably go into alternative medicine. Thank goodness I don’t have to worry about that at the moment!”

While giving a speech at Essence Magazine’s annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon, she revealed she wasn’t happy with her looks when she was younger.

She said she used to be teased for her “night-shaded” skin, and felt “unbeautiful.”

Addressing the people at the event, Nyong’o said she wanted to share her past pain because of a letter she received from a young fan.

The letter read, “Dear Lupita, I think you’re really lucky to be this black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.”
