Not a lot of people know this, but when George Lucas was casting actors for his Star Wars prequel trilogy, one of the actors he wanted to try out for the role of Anakin Skywalker was none other than Leonardo DiCaprio. So why did the Oscar nominee refuse this role?
According to Leonardo himself, it’s not that he wasn’t interested in being cast as the protagonist in the prequel episodes of Star Wars. Rather, he felt he wasn’t ready for a role of that magnitude at the time.
This isn’t the only time that DiCaprio has rejected famous roles. He also turned down the role of Robin in Batman Forever, as well as the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man. He says, however, that he’s more than open to similar roles in the future, so we might just see him in a cape sometime soon!
