Legendary Comedian Garry Shandling Dies

Some of you may be too young to fully appreciate the legend that was Garry Shandling, but even you will be able to understand how important of a comedian he was when you learn about all the young comedic powerhouses mourning his death at the age of 66.

Garry often appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and he was actually considered as Carson’s replacement. He got his own show in 1986 called It’s Garry Shandling Show, but he really became a true megastar with The Larry Sanders Show, a one-camera sitcom which brought sitcoms into a new era, letting celebrities play overblown versions of themselves.

Without Garry, shows like The Office, Curb your Enthusiasm and 30 Rock would not exist or would have been very, very different. Pretty much anyone who is someone in the world of comedy was broken by the news; people like Amy Schumer, Ricky Gervais, Ben Stiller, Jimmy Kimmel, Lena Dunham and many, many others who voiced their disbelief on Twitter.
