Kiefer Sutherland Spent Six Months Preparing For 24

Actor Kiefer Sutherland took six months to prepare for Jack Bauer role in 24: Live Another Day, after a four-year break from the show.

He will be returning for the iconic role for a new season. In the latest season, the counter-strike agent will be in London, trying to stop an assassination attempt of the U.S. President, who will be portrayed by William Devane.

Agent has been hiding since 2010, when was the last series, and Kiefer admits he has struggled to return to the agent’s troubled mind set.

He told Britain’s The Sun, “Jack Bauer is harder and angrier than he’s ever been… In the first few days we did a lot of running and action stuff and I actually felt really good about it.”

“The most difficult thing in the six months leading up to shooting was dealing with my nerves and realising we’re opening this up again and trying not to be sacred of it. I had to view this as a real opportunity to try and make the best 12 episodes.”

He also confessed, “For the next six months I was absolutely terrified about why I’d opened this can of worms once more. But once we got on set, within two or three days, I felt right at home again.”

The new series will air in the U.S. in May.
