Kevin Spacey Interested In Johnny Carson Biopic

Actor Kevin Spacey has offered to perfectly portray his famous Johnny Carson role for a planned TV biopic, but only if certain conditions are met. He would like the script to be very edgy to match the character.

The Oscar winner got his fame for playing the role of the late TV mogul, but he has yet to be approached about the NBC series. He insists he won’t take part in the series unless the screenplay is written accordingly and if it’s inappropriate.

He told The Hollywood Reporter,

“If (NBC) wants to start writing as if they’re a cable network, then absolutely I’d do it, but I’m afraid it would just be too marshmallow and Johnny deserves something that’s tougher with more expletives.”

Carson is widely recognized as the greatest showman in history, and not only in TV, but in any medium. After he has hosted the immensely popular ‘Tonight Show’ for 30 years, he went to almost completely invisible from the public eye between his retirement in 1992 and his death in 2005.

He was an American TV host and comedian known worldwide. He received six Emmy awards, the Governor’s Award and a 1985 Peabody Award.

He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987.

Johnny Carson was also awarded the prestigious Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 1993.
