Julia Roberts’ Half-Sister Found Dead After Drug Overdose
Nancy Motes, half-sister of the famous actress Julia Roberts, died on Sunday at the age of 37.
Nancy passed away in Los Angeles three days ago from a seeming drug overdose.
She was found in the bathroom of her home by her fiancé John Dilbeck. A spokesman for the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office said she was pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m. At the moment, an autopsy is being done to determine the exact cause of death.
“She has a history of some medical issues,” the spokesman said. “Some prescription drugs were found near her body.”
Her family wrote a statement that reads, “It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes… confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose.
There is no official report from the Coroner’s office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated.”
Nearly three weeks ago, Motes tweeted, “So my ‘sister’ said that with all her friends & fans she doesn’t need any more love.
Just so you all know ‘America’s Sweetheart’ is a B***H!!’” She later added, “My own family has abandoned me.”
At the time of her death, Nancy and her fiancé John, a film location manager, were planning a wedding in May.
