Johnny Depp Set For First-Time Distinguished Artisan Award

Johnny Depp is just about to receive the Distinguished Artisan Award from the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild. This is the first ever award to be appointed. It seems Depp’s longtime efforts are finally officially recognized.

The honoring of the star of the Pirates of the Caribbean is scheduled on 15 February in Los Angeles, California.

Depp’s enthusiasm to transform himself with the help of Hollywood’s make-up and hair geniuses was recognized by the president of the Guild, Susan Cabral-Ebert.

In her statement, Susan wrote, “Johnny Depp is a wonderful selection to receive our first Distinguished Artisan Award. He, probably more than any other actor working today, uses the skills of our members to delineate his characters.”

“Depp has constantly been an outstanding supporter of our crafts, ultimately respectful and appreciative of our member’s abilities and generous with his creative collaboration. A great artist himself, he allows others to shine.”

Depp will receive the award by his longtime make-up artist and friend Joel Harlow. Harlow’s an Oscar winning artist who has worked with Depp on a number of films, including The Lone Ranger, Dark Shadows, The Rum Diary and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Well done Johnny, you’ve deserved it.
