Joan Rivers To Wake Up From Coma Today

Comedienne Joan Rivers is expected to wake up from medically induced coma today. Reportedly, doctors already began waking her up on Sunday, August 31.

The 81-year old star was rushed to Mount Sinai in New York City, after she stopped breathing during a throat intervention on Thursday, August 28. After she was listed in serious condition, as reported by her daughter, Melissa Rivers, she was placed on life support.

She’s a strong woman, people aren’t giving up hope, but it’s very serious right now,

an insider told Us Weekly, while Melissa’s latest statement suggested the family is keeping their ‘fingers crossed’ for a miracle.

The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday,

a source told The New York Daily News.

There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised, leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair.
