Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show Premiere

Some of the greatest Hollywood names appeared for the beginning of a new era of America’s The Tonight Show series. The new presenter Jimmy Fallon was accompanied by several celebrities including Will Smith, Robert De Niro, Lady Gaga, Lindsay Lohan and U2.

The huge part of the show was dedicated to a retrospective overview of the show, starting in 1972 when iconic host Johnny Carson first appeared in the NBC studios. Earlier this month, previous presenter Jay Leno stepped down from the program after 22 years of hosting the legendary show.

In his first Tonight Show, Fallon made a joke saying, “To my buddy who said that I’d never be the host of The Tonight Show – you know who you are. You owe me $100 buddy!”

Just a moment after, De Niro appeared on stage carrying a $100 bill, followed by Tina Fey, Joan Rivers, Seth Rogen, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker, Mariah Carey, Mike Tyson and Lady Gaga. As a part of the joke, they all gave Fallon a $100 bill. Not bad for a first day at the office.

Most of them performed what they do the best, so Smith showed off his moves in The Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing, U2 performed their new song “Invisible”, while Bono gave Fallon a red electric guitar from the line he created for a charity.

Some of the greatest US celebrities are already scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show, including Bradley Cooper, Michelle Obama and Will Ferrell.
