Iconic Hollywood Actress Lauren Bacall Dies


The smoky-voiced Hollywood femme fatale Lauren Bacall died on Tuesday, after suffering a major stroke, according to a statement released from Bogart’s estate.

The legendary actress was 89 years old.

Bacall debuted at the age of 19 opposite Hollywood legend Humphrey Bogart in the memorable film To Have and Have Not.  Apart from that role, she is best known for her performances in The Big Sleep and The Mirror Has Two Faces.

She was married to Bogart with whom she had two children, Stephen Humphrey Bogart and Leslie Bogart.  After Bogart’s death, Bacall married Jason Robards and the couple had a child Sam.

Barbra Streisand who starred with Bacall in The Mirror Has Two Faces released a statement regarding Lauren’s death:

“What a terrible loss for us all. First Robin [Williams], who was a genius, and now Lauren. It was my privilege to have known her, to have acted with her. And, most of all, to have had her as a wise and loving friend.”
