Ryan Reynolds appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain this Friday and after talking about his new movie Deadpool, he was asked by Kate Garraway about something a bit more personal: his daughter’s name. Garraway insisted that it was a bit unusual to call a girl James, at least in the UK.
However, Reynolds elaborated that James was actually named after his late father, who passed away after being ill with Parkinson’s disease for twenty years. He also said that he doesn’t think that the name is all that unusual, especially in the midst of all the crazy celebrity baby names around (Kim and Kanye, we’re looking at you).
Here’s what he said:
“I mean, I didn’t call her Summer Squash Meadow Lark, or something.”
Reynolds also opened up about his role in Deadpool, which he insists took 11 years to make. He added that he identifies with the anti-hero, stressing that he isn’t “nearly as homicidal.”
