George Michael Hospitalized With Unknown Illness

According to U.K. reports, British pop star George Michael was hospitalized after falling ill at his home.

Allegedly, two ambulances came to his north London home at 8am on Thursday, May 22, after his friend was concerned about his wellbeing.

Witnesses say the ambulance left after four hours with the former ‘Wham’ singer on board. However, the cause of his illness has not been disclosed yet.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, “We were called just before 8am on May 22. We sent two ambulance crews and staff treated one patient, a man, who was then taken to hospital.”

Michael’s agent also talked to Britain’s The Sun, “George Michael was in hospital for routine tests but there is nothing further to say.”

The star, a 50-year old, has been hit with many health issues in the past few years. In 2011, the singer was hospitalized in Vienna, Austria with pneumonia and he spent weeks in intensive care.

In May 2013, he experienced some head injuries after falling from a moving car on a British road.

The star has been released now, according to his representative, who issued a statement, which reads, “In response to newspaper reports today we can confirm George was admitted to hospital on 22nd May. He was discharged last weekend and is well and resting. He is very much looking forward to the release of his new single in July.”
“Given the personal nature of this matter there will be no further comment.”
