Eccentric Heir Robert Durst Admits To Three Murders In HBO Documentary
Robert Durst, the infamous real estate heir involved in two murders and his wife’s disappearance, confessed to the crimes in a documentary aired on Sunday night.
The 71-year-old heir said that he ‘killed them all’, unaware that his microphone is still switched on. The shocking admission was made public just hours after Durst was arrested in New Orleans and charged with first-degree murder.
Durst, who was the subject of the HBO documentary “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst,”is heard in a bathroom mumbling to himself, “There it is. You’re caught,” and “What the hell did I do? Killed them all of course.”
Filmmaker Andrew Jarecki explained on Good Morning America on Monday that the film crew was unaware of his confession for more than two years because they were focused on other things during the filming.
“It took a while to really understand the impact of it. It was so chilling to hear it.”
The LAPD said they had been investigating the murder of his Durst close friend Susan Berman since her body was discovered in her West Los Angeles home on Christmas Eve 2000.
“As a result of investigative leads and additional evidence that has come to light in the past year, investigators have identified Robert Durst as the person responsible for Ms. Berman’s death.’’
