Demi Lovato Talks About Relationship With “Abusive” Father
Demi Lovato has a new album called “Confident” with songs that touch on a lot of different subjects. One of the most personal tracks on the album is “Father,” which is a song about Lovato’s relationship with her dad, who has actually passed away.
Lovato said that the relationship was not ideal, adding that he was often abusive towards her and her mother. The singer said that her father battled with a severe mental illness, which made it very hard for him to make a positive impact on her life.
Lovato wanted to write about their relationship and that’s how the song came to be. Her father Patrick Lovato died in 2013 of cancer, and the 23-year-old singer admits that it was hard for her, even though the two have been estranged for many years.
The singer said that while their relationship was far from perfect, he was still her dad and she will always love him, despite his flaws.
