Chris Rock To Host The Academy Awards For The Second Time

Yesterday, Chris gave a statement for ABC, uncovering that he was going to host the Academy Awards in 2016. He already hosted the Oscars in 2005.

It is unusual to see the same person host the awards twice in 11 years (only Ellen DeGeneres and Jon Stewart had the honor until now), but we guess the guys at the Academy know what they’re doing! Here’s what David Hill and Reginald Hudlin said:

“Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry. Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian – he’s done it all. He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”

Reggie worked with Chris on Everybody Hates Chris back in 2005, and judging from the praise, they’re great pals. He’ll pick up where Neil Patrick Harris left off last year, who we think did a bang-up job. Paul Lee says Chris is a “comedic powerhouse.” Everyone is definitely expecting a lot from the Rock. We’re watching you, Chris! Don’t disappoint us!
