China Angered By Lady Gaga’s Meeting With Dalai Lama

Lady Gaga is hugely popular in China. But the fact that she recently sat down and talked to the Dalai Lama may put all her future performances in that country into question.

Gaga met the Tibetan spiritual leader on Sunday and their 20-minute long conversation was live-streamed. The video on Facebook has over 160,000 likes.

Of course, Chinese officials are not too happy about this since they are not big fans of the Dalai Lama and believe that these types of public events are all geared toward getting Tibet to break away from China and gain its independence.

Chinese fans are definitely torn. For the most part, all mentions of the Dalai Lama are banned from Chinese social media, but it seems that the government gave fans a chance to tell Lady Gaga how they feel about her sit-down with the Tibetan monk.

Many Chinese fans believe that she has betrayed them by doing this. If the celebrity singer does get banned from China, she won’t be the first star prohibited from performing in the country.

Selena Gomez, Bon Jovi, and Maroon 5 have all had Chinese concerts canceled in the recent past for similar reasons.
