Arctic Monkeys, One Direction And David Bowie Rock BRIT Awards

One of the most anticipated events in the past few weeks came to pass last night, and we can’t say we’re disappointed. The 2014 BRIT Awards were dominated by Artic Monkeys and One Direction. who both went home as double winners.

Before receiving the trophy for Best British Group, Arctic Monkeys opened the ceremony with their hit “TU Mine?” promising the public a great night. They came back on stage once more to accept the award for Best British Album, which crushed releases by Rudimental, Disclosure and David Bowie.

This is the third British Group award for Arctic Monkeys.

One Direction repeated the success from last year with the Global Success award, adding the Best Video award after winning the live Twitter fan vote.

Ellie Goulding received the award for Best British Female despite claims that she became a “pro” at losing. Well, that wasn’t that far from the truth since her last BRIT award win was in 2009.

Legendary rocker David Bowie repeated his success from 1984 and was named Best British Male, but due to his absence Kate Moss accepted his award dressed in one of his old costumes.

Furthermore, Bruno Mars received the Best International Male award, accompanied by 17-year old Lorde who scored the International Female award.

During the night, several celebrities performed including Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Ellie Goulding and Beyoncé, whose performance was kept secret.
