Amanda Bynes Stays In Mental-Health Institution

Amanda Bynes’ stay at a Pasadena hospital has reportedly been extended by two weeks, following an initial 72-hour psychiatric hold that began on Friday.

The extension was confirmed on Monday to media including ABC News, E! News and Us Weekly.

The self-proclaimed retired actress was admitted to Las Encinas Hospital, which specializes in mental-health and addiction care, on Friday after flying in from New York City. Reportedly, she had had a rough week in NYC. She traveled there just days after a September 28 arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs in Sherman Oaks.

A source told People on Monday that the star’s parents Rick and Lynn Bynes were “happy she’s safe and … finally getting some help.”

Lynn Bynes‘ yearlong conservatorship of her daughter, which was prompted by a July 2013 psychiatric hold that came after months of bizarre stunts by the onetime child star, including arrests on both coasts, had expired recently.
